Shiftaroo helps you plan a roster. It is not your employer, your payroll system, your accountant or an emergency service — you stay responsible for your own legal obligations, and you should not rely on Shiftaroo as the only way you know who is coming.
1. Who these terms are between
In these terms, we and us mean Stray Anchor Pty Ltd (ACN 700 917 111, ABN 22 700 917 111), trading as Shiftaroo, of Western Australia. You means the person using it.
By creating an account or using Shiftaroo, you agree to these terms. If you are using Shiftaroo for an organisation, you promise you are allowed to agree on its behalf.
2. What Shiftaroo is — and what it is not
Shiftaroo is a tool for planning shifts. It shows you a week, lets you put support workers on it, tells them what you have planned, and can produce an invoice from shifts that were worked.
That is the whole of it. In particular, Shiftaroo is not:
- an employer, or an agency. We do not employ or engage anybody. Whether a support worker is your employee or a contractor, and everything that follows from that, is between you and them.
- a payroll, tax or superannuation service. We do not calculate, withhold, report or pay anything. Single Touch Payroll, PAYG, superannuation, workers' compensation and award rates are yours to get right.
- an NDIS claiming or plan management service. We do not talk to the NDIA, submit claims, or check that anything you do fits your plan.
- a clinical, medical or care record. Notes on a shift are notes, not health records, and nothing in Shiftaroo is designed for clinical use.
- an emergency or safety-critical service. Do not rely on Shiftaroo to raise an alarm, to confirm somebody arrived, or to know that a person is safe.
- advice. Nothing in Shiftaroo — including anything it calculates, suggests, warns about or prints on an invoice — is legal, tax, financial, employment or care advice.
Shiftaroo shows NDIS price limits and time bands as a convenience, from published reference data we load ahead of time. That data can be out of date or wrong. Checking that a rate, a claim or an invoice is correct is your responsibility, not ours.
For your own support categories there is no price limit at all, and no check. A household can add another kind of support to a worker — capacity building, for instance — with its own line item code and its own hourly rates typed in by hand. We hold no published limit for those, so we compare the rate against nothing, and we cannot tell you whether the code is the right one. What you type is what the invoice bills. The screen where you set it says so too.
Invoices are a calculation, not a bill we stand behind
When Shiftaroo produces an invoice it is doing arithmetic on what you put in: the shifts on the roster, the times they ran, the rates you agreed, and the published price limits for the date of service. It does not check any of that against reality. If a shift was entered at the wrong time, a rate was typed wrongly, a support type was set incorrectly, a price limit has changed since we loaded it, or a line item code is not the one your plan manager expects, the invoice will be wrong and it will look exactly as convincing as a right one.
Check every invoice before you send it, and before you pay one. The people who can tell whether an invoice is correct are the household and the support worker, because you are the ones who know what actually happened.
Specifically, we do not:
- verify that a shift on the roster was worked, or worked at the times recorded;
- check a rate against your service agreement, an award, or anyone's entitlements;
- submit anything to the NDIA, a plan manager or a support coordinator;
- handle, hold, collect or pay out any money between a household and a support worker;
- decide whether something is claimable under a participant's plan.
An invoice raised through Shiftaroo is between the household and the support worker. If one turns out to be wrong — overpaid, underpaid, rejected by a plan manager, or claimed against the wrong budget — sorting it out is between the two of you. We make the tool; we are not part of the arrangement.
An invoice outlives the roster it was raised against. An invoice is the support worker's record of their own income, so deleting a roster does not delete the invoices sent from it. The roster itself — shifts, notes, leave, history — is deleted in full, and nobody on the household's side can open those invoices afterwards. They stay with the worker who raised them until that worker deletes their own account. Download every invoice as you issue it: five years is longer than any account either of you can promise.
The same goes for a cancelled shift a household says it will still pay for. When a household cancels a shift they can tell us they are paying for it anyway, and we will pass that on to the support worker and put it on their next invoice. That is us recording what the household said. It is not a promise from Shiftaroo, we do not check that anything was agreed, and we cannot make anybody pay — if the household then does not, that is between the household and the support worker like every other invoice.
Emailing an invoice to a household is a convenience, not delivery. A support worker can ask us to email a finished invoice to whoever owns the roster. When they do, we hand a message to a mail provider and record the time we did it — that is the whole of what we can promise. We cannot tell whether it arrived, was opened, went to a junk folder, or was stopped by a plan manager's mail filter, and we do not retry. It is not a demand for payment, a debt notice, or proof that anybody was told anything. If it matters that an invoice reached someone, send it yourself as well: every invoice can be printed, saved as a PDF, or downloaded as a CSV. The email carries the total and a link — the shifts, hours and rates stay behind a sign-in rather than travelling through email.
None of this takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which we could not exclude even if we wanted to. Section 11 says what that means.
3. Rely on your own arrangements
Rosters are about people turning up to support somebody. Software goes down, phones run out of battery, messages do not arrive, and mistakes get typed in.
You must keep your own way of confirming who is coming and when, and you must not use Shiftaroo as your only means of arranging care. If a shift matters, confirm it with the person directly.
4. Your account
You sign in with a mobile number or an email address that you control. Keep them secure — anyone who can receive your codes or links can reach your roster. Tell us straight away if you think somebody else has got in.
You must be at least 16 to have your own Shiftaroo account. A roster may be about a person of any age; it is run by the adult who set it up.
You are responsible for who you invite and what you let them see. Roles decide what a person can do, and it is on you to remove people who should no longer have access.
An account nobody signs in to is closed. If nobody has signed in for 12 months we may close the account and delete everything on it, including invoices. We will email the account owner twice before that happens — 30 days out, and again 7 days out — at the address we hold, so there is time to sign in or to export. Signing in is free and is all it takes to keep an account open, and it resets the clock.
Nothing else deletes your data. A subscription that lapses makes a roster read-only; it does not close the account and it does not delete anything. Only the 12-month clock in this section does that, and only after both warnings.
5. Support workers use Shiftaroo free
If you are a support worker, Shiftaroo costs you nothing. You can see your shifts across everyone you work for, book time off, pick up cover and produce invoices without ever paying us.
Your access does not depend on anybody else's subscription. If somebody else's subscription lapses, your own week, your leave and your invoices are unaffected.
6. Subscriptions, trials and payment
Running a roster is a paid subscription: A$24.95 per month including GST, per roster, after a 14-day free trial. The same price applies whoever set the roster up. If you run more than one roster, each one is its own subscription.
You can cancel any time. Cancelling stops the next payment; it does not refund the period you are in, except where the law requires a refund.
Subscriptions are bought on our website, not in the app. Stripe takes the payment and holds the card details; we never see them. There is nothing to buy inside the iPhone or Android app, so there is no App Store or Google Play subscription to cancel — you manage yours from the billing link in Settings.
If a subscription lapses, the roster becomes read-only. Everything on it stays visible and you can still export all of it. What stops is adding, changing and publishing shifts. We will not delete a roster because it has not been paid for, and exporting your data is always free. We do not keep it indefinitely: see "Dormant accounts" below.
We can change the price. We will tell you at least 30 days before it affects you, and you can cancel before then.
7. Availability — we do not promise Shiftaroo will be working
Shiftaroo is provided as is and as available. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time, and there is no service level agreement.
It may be unavailable, slow, or wrong because of maintenance, a bug, a failure at one of the services we depend on (hosting, databases, text messages, email, the app stores), a network problem, an attack, or anything else outside our reasonable control. We can change, suspend or withdraw features, with notice where we reasonably can.
Messages are not guaranteed. A text or email telling somebody about a shift may be delayed, filtered or never arrive, for reasons that sit with carriers and mail providers rather than with us.
None of this displaces the consumer guarantees in section 11 — it describes what we are promising, not an attempt to escape the law.
8. Your information stays yours
You keep ownership of everything you put into Shiftaroo. You give us permission to store, process and display it for the purpose of running the service for you, and for no other purpose. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising. See our Privacy Policy.
You can export your data at any time while your account exists, including after you cancel, at no cost. You promise that what you put in is yours to put in — in particular, that you have the right to enter another person's details, including a participant's and a support worker's.
9. How long we keep things
The roster keeps 90 days. Shifts, notes, leave and the history of who changed what are deleted once they are more than 90 days old. The window rotates — it moves forward with you — so you always have about the last three months of the roster and never more.
Invoices are different, and we keep them while your account exists. An invoice is a financial document, so it stays put rather than ageing out with the roster. If you close your account, or if nobody signs in for 12 months and we close it under section 4, the invoices go with it.
The shifts behind an invoice are kept too. A shift that has been billed is not deleted when the 90-day window passes over it, so the working behind an invoice is still there if it is ever queried. Work that has been done and never invoiced is kept as well — the window does not quietly remove somebody's unpaid hours.
Either way, Shiftaroo is not your record-keeping system. If you need something beyond what we hold — a plan review, your tax, an audit, a dispute — export it and keep your own copy. Exporting is free.
Export is available for as long as the account exists. That includes after a subscription lapses: the roster goes read-only and stays exportable. It ends when the account closes under section 4 — at which point everything on it is deleted, we cannot get it back, and we hold no separate copy for you.
Support workers: Australian tax record-keeping is your obligation, not ours, and five years is longer than any account we can promise. Download each invoice when you issue it.
10. Fair use
Do not use Shiftaroo to:
- break the law, or help anybody else to;
- harass, abuse or endanger a person;
- get at data that is not yours, or try to reach a roster that is not yours;
- attack, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or get around its security or its limits;
- run an agency through it — a roster is for one household's own team, and holds up to 20 support workers;
- resell or rebrand Shiftaroo as your own product.
We can suspend or close an account that does these things. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it — unless the problem is urgent, unlawful, or puts somebody at risk.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes the Australian Consumer Law. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under it. You may be entitled to a remedy for a failure, and to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. We do not limit or exclude those rights, and any part of these terms that tried to would simply not apply.
Beyond those rights, and to the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost income, lost data, or loss arising because a shift was missed, mis-timed, mis-billed or never happened;
- our total liability for any claim is limited to the subscription fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or A$100, whichever is greater — the floor matters because support workers never pay us anything, and a cap of nothing is not a cap;
- we are not liable for what another person does with a roster you gave them access to, or for any arrangement between you and a support worker.
If you use Shiftaroo for a business — for example as a support coordinator — and the services are not of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic or household use, our liability for failing a consumer guarantee is limited, where the law permits, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
12. You cover us for what you do
You agree to cover us for any claim, loss or cost that arises from your use of Shiftaroo, anything you put into it, your dealings with the people on your roster, or your failure to meet your own legal obligations — except to the extent we caused it.
13. Changes and closing an account
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect — the same notice we give for a price change — and you can cancel before then. Using Shiftaroo after a change takes effect means you accept it. Old versions stay available on request.
You may stop using Shiftaroo whenever you like. We may close an account that has broken these terms, or stop offering the service entirely — in which case we will give you at least 30 days' notice, with export available throughout.
14. If you are unhappy with us
Email support@shiftaroo.app and tell us what happened. We will acknowledge it within 2 business days and give you an answer within 10. If we cannot put it right, you keep every right you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including going to your state consumer protection body.
15. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of Western Australia, and you and we submit to the courts of Western Australia and the courts that hear appeals from them.
If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still stands. Not enforcing something once does not mean giving it up.
