When someone is away
Their shifts come off them and wait for you. You ask who you like, and you choose.
Where to do it: Your phone. This is the one that happens on the day.
Step by step
-
Your worker books time off in their app. Any shift they had comes off them and shows as Needs someone, with their name underneath so you know whose it was.
-
Open the shift. Under Who's Doing It? the team is listed. If you already know who will take it, tap their name and it is done.
-
If not, each name has a tick box. Tick the people you want to ask and press Ask Them. Only they hear about it — the rest of the team sees nothing.
-
Or tick Everyone who's free. Names marked N/A are on the shift right before or after, or already on a long day, so they are left out unless you tick them yourself. Or press Offer It Around on the week to offer every shift with nobody on it at once.
-
When somebody says yes you get a notice at once, and their name shows Said yes in the shift. Saying yes does not book them in. Tap their name to give it to them. Everyone else who was asked is told it went to someone else. Nobody is asked twice.
Worth knowing
- Anyone away that day has no tick box. The app will not ask them.
- If a shift is still unfilled close to its start, the app chases you, and releases the people who said yes so they stop holding the time.
- Nobody could do it and you covered it yourselves? Record it as informal support. It is worth zero dollars and worth having at plan review.
- You can also open a shift yourself, before sending the week, to ask particular people about it. Press Open shift under the names, close the sheet, and come back when you are ready.
